Abenaki Helping Abenaki, Inc. (AHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support the cultural, educational, and food security needs of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki People and other Native communities. AHA operates independently as a charitable organization while remaining mission-aligned with the values, traditions, and responsibilities of the Nulhegan Band.
Chief Don Stevens is an Original Trustee of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk-Abenaki Nation and serves as the Executive Director of Abenaki Helping Abenaki, Inc. In this role, Chief Stevens oversees all daily operations, programs, and services of the 501(c)(3), providing leadership, direction, and accountability across the organization. His work ensures that AHA’s initiatives remain firmly grounded in Abenaki traditions, ethical stewardship, and long-term community benefit.
Through partnerships with regional farmers, food producers, and community organizations in Vermont and New Hampshire, AHA advances food security initiatives rooted in traditional and sustainable practices. These efforts include Indigenous agriculture education, access to traditional food sources, and programs that strengthen community self-sufficiency.
